Top tips for your first pole class
Your first class is completely free, no strings attached
1
Whether you’re a total beginner or just trying our studio for the first time, you can attend your first class for free when you use the code ‘PNTASTER’ at checkout!
Wear what you’re comfortable in, but leave some skin exposed!
2
We suggest shorts with joggers or leggings over, a sports bra, and a sleeveless top. You can take off your layers as you warm up. We try to keep arms, armpits and legs exposed so our skin can grip the pole.
Skip the moisturiser and the jewellery
3
Try not to moisturise for a day or two before your class; it makes it harder to grip. No jewellery is allowed on the poles.
Pole is barefoot
4
You won’t need any dance shoes or trainers for class.
Wear your hair however you like
5
Up or down, whatever makes you feel good.
Just bring yourself, water, and a small towel
6
Stay hydrated and bring a small flannel or towel to clean the pole during class.
Getting started
-
No, not at all. In fact, this is one of the biggest misconceptions about pole. If we had a penny for every time someone said “when I’m stronger/ fitter, I want to start”, we could afford to offer you all classes for free!
You don’t need to be strong, flexible, or active. You’ll learn all the skills you need as you go.
Most of our students start our beginners classes nervous and without any experience, and go on to build confidence and strength they couldn’t have even imagined in their first class. Our instructors will know its your first class, and help you progress at your own pace.
-
Definitely! You don’t need any experience, skills or abilities to start pole dancing with us.
Everyone at Pole Ninjas remembers what it felt like to be a beginner. You’ll be encouraged every step of the way, never judged or pressured.
-
If you’re curious about pole and open to trying something new, you’ll likely enjoy it.
You’ll be guided through everything step by step in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.
You don’t need to commit to a membership either - you can start with a drop-in class (your first is completely free!) and see how it goes, no pressure.
Our instructors and students are a welcoming, respectful bunch who are always happy to help if you have any questions.

Whether you want to try a one-off beginner class before committing to a course or prefer the structure of learning over 10 weeks, there’s an option to suit you.
You can book your first class for free using the code ‘PNTASTER’.

Your first class is about getting comfortable with the basics and exploring what your body can do, you don’t need to worry about getting anything ‘right’.
Our group warm up gets our bodies ready for pole. We’ll follow with conditioning exercises to strengthen our muscles, before going through basic stands, pole sits, poses, and pole spins. At the end of the class, we’ll cool down as a group.
We have a total of 6 poles and there are 2 people to a pole.
-
It wouldn’t matter one bit!
Our instructors break everything down step by step. We encourage our students to go at their own pace, there’s no expectations or routines to “keep up” with.
You might be surprised at what you can do, so why not give it a go?

Book online! Choose your class and use code ‘PNTASTER’ at checkout to get your first session completely free.
You don’t have to sign up to a course to start, you can drop in class first so you can see how you feel.
Make sure to book in advance as we don’t offer walk-ins

You’ll find us at Fresh Gym in Shepperton, upstairs in the studio. Just walk straight past reception, turn right, and up the stairs. If there’s a class going on when you arrive, just wait outside and the instructor will let you in when the class finishes.
If you’re getting the train, we’re a 6 minute walk from Shepperton station.
There’s a water station to refill your drink downstairs next to reception. Toilets are just past reception, on the left. Changing rooms are also downstairs, but we recommend wearing your pole wear underneath some warm clothes so you can start the warm up without having to get changed first.

We’re a very welcoming, talented team of certified, experienced instructors at Pole Ninjas, if we do say so ourselves! We were all beginners at one point, we know what it’s like, and we’re here to support you.
Your instructor will know if it’s your first class and be ready to welcome you with a big smile. Feel free to ask any questions before the class starts, or email us poleninjas@gmail.com if there’s anything you’d like to know in advance.

In a typical beginners class, some students will be in their first week, others already a few months in. Everyone is at different levels, and learns in different ways.
If you’re a beginner who wants to start with other students in exactly the same spot, join our Nothing to Ninjas course.
Our students have different skills and styles and we celebrate that; you’ll be encouraged to find what feels right for you, at your own pace.
Don’t worry about anyone else, just focus on yourself. You’ll meet plenty of friendly, supportive people along the way.

If you are under 18, you will need parental consent, but anyone can start pole with us.
